Winged Sun Disk

The winged sun disk

According to the Egyptian mythology; one day god (Re-Horakhty), king of gods, was sailing alone in his boat to Nubia. Suddenly his enemies attacked his boat in the Nile. He called (Horus of Edfu) to defend him against enemies. Horus came and defeated the enemies and drove them a way from Nubia, but they came once again in the forms of evil creatures (crocodiles and hippopotami). So that Horus transformed to a winged sun disk and started destroying all of them. As a reward to God (Horus of Edfu), God (Re-Horakhty) ordered god (Thoth) to place the winged sun disk on the temples of upper Egypt as a symbol of protection.
