In 1954 an important monument belongs to king Khufu was discovered, it's Khufu's boat. It was discovered in a pit in the southern side of the great pyramid. Not only this pit but also three other pits: one is located next to the first one and the other two pits were discovered in the eastern side of the pyramid. In the first pit they discovered a big number of separated wooden parts of a long boat. In many years, they could rebuild the boat with out nails as it was built. It's 46 meters long made of Cedar wood and lies now in a special museum built near the pyramid. This type of boats wasn't used as a solar boat as some people think, because it doesn't have the same shape of solar boats or any symbols of the sun od, but it was used for celebrations or for transporting the body of the king from his palace to the his great tom (The pyramid).
